The Erisiana railway standards are intended to make Erisiana's rails safe, efficient, and improve usability. Other standards may be a superset of this set of standards.

Layout

Rails, unless one-way spurs, very low-traffic, or for cargo, must have at least two sets of tracks.

Two types of stations are permissible at present: roll-through, and full-stop. Full-stop stations require a launcher and ejector. Roll-through stations only require directional boosters (detector rail and powered rail).

Boosters

Boosters are to be set every 32 blocks minimum (more as required), with unconditionally powered booster strips on upward slopes. A detector rail and powered rail are recommended to stop wrong-way carts.

Departure platforms

Departure platforms for final stops must consist of at 3 booster rails against a block, with a button to toggle. Arrival platforms for final stops must consist of a detector rail (optional), activator rail (adjacent to the detector rail, optional), and unpowered rail (for braking).

Departure platforms may consist of a simple detector and booster to allow launching from a cold start from a roll-through station. It is recommended (but not required) that such stations have strips of fully-powered rail to increase passenger speed.

Tunnels

Tunnels are to be at least 3 high and 3 wide. Corners on tunnels should, if possible, have cutouts at the first and second level (minimum) around corners to prevent the cart being slowed by the wall, as the cart's hitbox turns with the corner and may wind up in the wall.

Mob ingress

Lighting should be sufficient on all rails (surface or otherwise) to prevent mob spawning on the tracks; that is, a light level of 8 or greater must be maintained at all times.

Slopes should use 4 high sections and have fences to prevent mob/player ingress.

One-way gates (that use pressure plates) should be used at stations wherever possible to allow stray mobs to exit but not return unless they are a player.

Care should be taken to fence aboveground portions of the rail to prevent mob ingress; also, beware of mob ingress from ledges (barriers can be used to prevent this).

Announcement blocks

Announcement blocks should be used when possible, that tell the player to exit the cart at a given place to stop (roll-through), or that a stop is final. Stations sufficiently close together can share announcement blocks.

Diagonal rails

Diagonal rails must follow the 32 block minimum in Manhattan distance, with straight portions for the boosters. It must be ensured the cart cannot intersect the wall for the entire section.

Signage

All roll-through stations should have signage preceding the stop; all other station types are exempt. Junctions should be signed.

Ticketed rails

Tickets should be handled in a consistent and logical manner. Tickets must be offered at all stations, and may cost money (or be free).
