Minecraft:House of Eris

The House of Eris is the smaller of the two ruling houses of Erisiana, in terms of holdings.

Origins

Though some may say the house has its origins in YOLD 3181 when it was founded by a one E. Myers (who also happens to hold the present title of Grand Inquisitor of the House of Eris), the truth is the house is most noble and ancient, stretching back to YOLD 10. The initial building of the House of Eris was Castle Eris in Mountain Home, though it largely sits empty in modern times as the possessions have been sold to pay for the Grand Inquisitor's drug habit.

The House of Eris also founded the Ancien Empire, a large Francophone empire in the far west, which enjoys a joint regime with Erisiana at Unity Bridge.

In recent times, The House of Eris has mostly concentrated on infrastructure improvements in Erisiana and Ancien.

History

The title of the head of the House of Eris was handed down through generations after its founding, winding up with E. Myers in YOLD 3180.

Founding of Ancien

In YOLD 3181, in a flash of drunken and drug-fuelled stupor utter brilliance, the head of the House of Eris founded acquired Ancien, which at the time only consisted of some ancient ruins constructed by the Grand Inquisitor of the House of Eris in a previous drunken and drug-fuelled stupor of unknown provenance. Upon acquiring the lands, the House of Eris constructed Nouvelle-Athénés and (with assistance of the other house) constructed the Ancien Central Railroad.

The House of Eris was instrumental in the founding of the University of Ancien, used to this day to educate the members of the other house.

Work in New Seattle

Both houses of Erisiana were contracted to create the rail transportation network and improve the docks in New Seattle in YOLD 3181. The House of Eris provided the bulk of logistical and physical operations, whilst the other house provided labour and useless invaluable feedback, and planning for outer spurs.

As a result of their efforts, both houses (along with other empires) were rewarded with joint sovereignty over New Seattle in the Treaty of New Seattle.

Rise of Erisiana

Until the middle of YOLD 3181, the empire of Erisiana was a minor regional power near Caerpen, and more of a city-state than a true empire. In another drunken and drug-fuelled stupor flash of brilliance, the head of the House of Eris decided to listen to the advice of the other house to found a city on the plains near the then recently built Malaclypse Interior Waterway. Thus, Malaclypse was created. The idea for the city of Malaclypse (initially a station made of glass and a giant testicle supported by iron) and initial structures originated for the city from the Grand Inquisitor of the other house, transferred via telepathy from the great mind of the Grand Inquisitor of the House of Eris.

Not long after Malaclypse was founded, the House of Eris convinced the other house to join it in seizing the vast lands surrounding the canal before Caerpen and Aranzia had a chance to take over. The lands conquered by the Houses became the Province of Malaclypse.

As the city of Malaclypse grew, the citizens became increasingly concerned that the Houses, especially the other house, held too much power. The other house agreed, and the House of Eris cooperated with the other house to create the current inquisition system used to govern Erisiana.

The House of Eris was later contracted by the other house for much of the development in Ravenhurst Province, as the Grand Inquisitor was on a huge LSD, PCP, crack, and alcohol bender occupied with other things. Later, after coming down, they resumed work jointly.

Mountain Home

Around the end of YOLD 3180, the Grand Inquisitor of Discord House made an arrangement with the House of Eris to establish a new country in the Discord Mountains to the west-southwest of Discord Manor. This new country was founded as Mountain Home. The two houses, joined by Cat House, agreed to share power and responsibility in a more-or-less representative system.

Castle Eris, despite sitting largely empty, is the headquarters of the House of Eris, pending furnishment.

The three Houses of Mountain Home later agreed to combine the lower levels of their castles into Joint Castle Eris-Discordia, which is the capitol of Mountain Home (and also Erisiana).

When Unity Bridge was founded as a joint territory of Mountain Home and Ancien, The House of Eris retained significant control of the territory's affairs.

Ancien

Main article: Ancien

Ancien is an ancient Francophone empire extending to the days before the Discordian epoch, as illustrated by Vieux-Athénés ruins. Athénés, as it was called in those days, was modelled after the ancient Greek city of Athens, but as the citizenry were illiterate and knew little of architecture, the clone they made was of poor quality.

Since nobody wants to live in ancient ruins, the city of Nouvelle-Athénés was created nearby as a properly habitable city.

University of Ancien

Discord House maintains a scholarship agreement with the House of Eris to send its students to the University of Ancien free of charge. In addition, Foxdale also sends its students to the university. As such, the University of Ancien can be considered almost a de facto (if not de jure) joint sovereignty area of multiple empires.

Unity Bridge

Unity Bridge is held in joint regime with Erisiana (which effectively means Discord House, as Erisiana is a joint empire of the House of Eris and Discord House). It is a bilingual free-trade zone and home to many shops.

Membership

Those wishing to become members of the House of Eris must follow these procedures:

1. Ensure they are a citizen of Erisiana, Ancien, the Allied Empire, or an associated territory, or be eligible for citizenship in one of those nations (a good quality fake ID will be accepted)
2. Ensure they are members of no other houses, including the Libertarian Party, the alt-right, and especially the other house
3. Be a Discordian, or a convincing phony in the presence of other members; cabal membership does not matter
4. Be a form of sentient life (great apes and dolphins included)
5. Exist in this plane
6. Provide a small membership fee of $500 (payment in drugs accepted) - all payments non-refundable
